With the Dyson name behind it, the DC65 offers a redesigned brush bar with shorter, stiffer bristles.
This allows the bristles to penetrate the carpet deeper giving it the ability to remove more dirt.
The special design of the suction head self-adjusts to any surface; this allows for consistent suction on both carpets and hardwood floors. All of this in addition to Dyson’s patented ball technology; which allows easy steering around objects while cleaning.

What Customers Like
The filters are washable, which will speak to my environmentally conscience friends. Washing the filters means saving money and less unnecessary garbage. In fact Dyson prides itself on the fact their vacuums come with no additional cost; ever.
The Dyson DC65 features easy clog removal. If you have ever had to take a vacuum apart to remove the sock that was hiding under your child’s bed; you will appreciate this feature.
Consumers are impressed that the quieter motor lives up to its promise of improved suction. As this is a bag-less upright machine, emptying the canister will testify to the amount of dirt the improved bar/brush design picks up.
Like all Dyson vacuums, there is a pet option available. This option offers increased filtration which keeps your vacuum from gumming up from pet hair and dander.
On both styles of the Dyson DC65, the canister is both easy to empty and to re-attach. Consumers were surprised at how often they had to dump that canister during the first use, which goes to show that it does indeed possess enhanced cleaning ability over other brands.
The extra-long cord and large holding canister make it possible to vacuum multiple rooms in one session, while the ball makes it easy to clean in corners and under furniture.
Although it is not a direct cleaning feature, many consumers mentioned how much they enjoyed watching the head adjust. One review likened it to the landing of a spaceship. That sounds pretty cool to me.
What Customers Disliked
- Due to its powerful suction, the DC65 can be difficult to push on thicker carpets.
- It does not come pre-assembled.
- Assembly is difficult and time consuming for some people.
- Takes some finagling to get it to stand upright for storage purposes
Conclusion
The reviews of this product clearly show that consumers have two issues prior to use, the price and the difficulty in assembly. These concerns seem to evaporate after the first use of the vacuum. There weren’t too many negatives about this machine as most customers were extremely satisfied with their purchase and feel that it was well worth having to deal with the minor inconveniences related to price and assembly.
As with any product, there are people that are completely dis-satisfied. The reasons for the dis-satisfaction are listed above. One review that I found humorous was a one star review that recommends not purchasing this vacuum “unless you are superhuman”. She was speaking in reference to the difficulty she had maneuvering the vacuum around her carpets. This issue was listed rarely in other product reviews and generally only with very thick carpets.
In any case, I recommend that you check out some of these customer reviews yourself and come up with your own conclusion.

I have had a Dyson Animal for 12 years of heavy use and loved it. Not one problem in all those years until it finally died. I bought this one as a replacement and am very disappointed. It is fine on bare floors or low pile rugs but I agree that it Is almost impossible to push on thicker rugs without risking injury! It also difficult to move, keeps flipping down when you want to move from one area to another, tips over easily and is difficult to get locked in upright position. Very unstable! Dyson cannot be beat for cleaning but the design of this model makes it too frustrating to use. I am returning it.
