Next to a television, a vacuum cleaner is now a staple in most houses. Because they have become indispensable, many manufacturers have come out with an array of models to choose from. The dizzying number of choices can drive consumers nuts.
Personally, I cope by limiting my choices to certain brands. One of my favorites when it comes to vacuum cleaners are the ones from Dirt Devil.
They’re one of the cheapest in the market, and yet, they still manage to do the job.
The company does not spend a lot on marketing, thus, despite their superior performance, they languish in relative obscurity. There is, therefore, a dearth of information, which deters potential buyers.
To bridge the information gap, here’s a short guide on Dirt Devil canister vacuum cleaners.
Proper Assembly
Whether its a vacuum cleaner or a coffee maker, assembling an appliance correctly is important. Put the wrong nozzle in the wrong hole and it can go haywire.
Most people forego reading the manual and instead proceed to putting it together on their own. Big mistake.
Aside from paying close attention to the instructions of your salesman, you should take the time to read and follow the manual.
There’s a reason why manufacturers take the time to print them out and its not to increase the price. Warranty does not cover improper assembly.
Nozzle and Tool Caddy
Despite the warning above, Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners are relatively easy to assemble.
- Attach the nozzle of your canister to the body using a screwdriver.
- Screw the body to the base while making sure that the lower hose is positioned on the right side.
- At the same time, check that the lower hose is aligned with the dirt passage window.
- Afterwards, attach the tool caddy and then the handle to the base.
The holes for the body and the handle should be aligned and screwed on with the correct screw size.
Proper Use
Vacuums may be marketed as plug-and-use appliance, but users should still be prudent.
Before starting, check that the dirt cup and the hose are securely fastened.
Then, plug it in to an outlet and turn it on and glide the vacuum along the surface you want to clean.
It’s best to work from the corner and moving towards your exit. Use attachments when necessary.
Issues
You will undoubtedly encounter some issues or problems during the life of the machine.
Most of the time, the solution is simple and easy. Before panicking and calling the customer service, check the obvious problems.
- Is the cord plugged securely?
- Is the bag or dirt cup empty?
- Is the filter clean?
Try simple solutions first, and if they don’t work, customer service is just a phone call away.
Dirt Devil has been around for over a century now. Because of their vast experience, they have learned what their consumers want and need.
Although they have a high end line (Royal), they continue to make low cost vacuum cleaners. The wise consumer should not use price as a gauge of the quality of a product.
By using your Dirt Devil properly, you will have a vacuum cleaner that will outperform some of the most expensive ones out there.
